Lash Extension Q & A

Classic Lash Extensions Q & A

Q: What are eyelash extensions?

A: Eyelash extensions are a great way to add volume and length to your existing lashes.  One synthetic Lash is attached to a healthy lash with medical grade, semi-permanent glue.  A natural or dramatic look can be achieved depending on preference and the health of your natural lashes.

Q: Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

A: When applied properly by a professional eyelash extensions are safe and will not harm your natural lashes.  That being said some spas and lash technicians do not apply the lashes naturally or use cluster lashes which are glued to several natural lashes at a time and this can cause breakage of lashes and for lashes to be prematurely pulled out.  Not only is this unsightly but can be painful.  It is not advised to pull out, or harshly rub the lashes once on.  Treating them gently and cleansing them as advised will protect your natural lashes.  We also recommended using a lash growth serum to condition and strengthen your lashes while you wear your extensions.  We highly recommend and sell Babe Lash.

Q: How long do the extensions last?

A: A full set of lash extensions can last up to two months.  But the extensions will shed as your own natural lashes shed.  Most people have a shedding cycle of between 4-10 weeks.  To keep your lashes looking full we recommend getting a lash fill every 2-3 weeks.

Q: Is the eyelash glue safe for my eyes?

A: Yes, when used correctly and avoiding contact with the eye, the glue is completely safe.  At the end of the service the lash glue will be "cured" and become completely harmless.  Unless you have a sensitivity to medical glue/tape then there is a chance of an allergic reaction {this is VERY rare}.

Q: What can I do to prepare for this appointment?

A: Arrive with no make-up on, including mascara.  We will still do a thorough cleaning to assure proper adhesion.  Know that you will be laying still for a couple of hours, so avoid caffeine, stimulants and use the restroom before beginning.

Q: Who is NOT a good candidate for this procedure?

A: You are not a good candidate to receive eyelash extensions if you excessively rub your eyes, this can cause the extensions to fall off sooner.  If you have highly sensitive skin or severe allergies, watery eyes, or very thin, to no natural lashes present.

Q: Can I wear mascara?

A: Most people find no need to wear mascara with their extensions.  It is recommended to only use a mascara made for lash extension wearers if you do choose to wear mascara.  Wearing mascara on the bottom lashes is ok, just take caution when cleansing off mascara at the end of the day. Wearing mascara down to the base of the lashes can cause the lashes to get stuck together, and fall out prematurely.

Q: Can I swim with the lash extensions on?

A: Yes, once the lash extensions are cured to the natural lash they are 100% waterproof.  Feel free to swim, take a dip in the ocean, go in a sauna, etc.
